Important 'Plan Bay Area' Workshop

Plan Bay Area is a comprehensive regional planning effort being led by the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC).  In pursuit of a Sustainable Communities Strategy (mandated by state greenhouse gas legislation), these two agencies are formulating a range of controls and policy initiatives that will regulate future land development, jobs and housing growth, and transportation investment options.

Two un-elected, San Francisco-centric regional agencies, ABAG and MTC have been proposing far fewer jobs and much more housing for us in San Jose.  If adopted, this approach would dismantle hard-won goals in San Jose's 2040 General Plan to achieve a long overdue jobs-housing balance and fiscal sustainability for our city.  San Jose citizens need to get involved—in defense of our city and local control.

MTC and ABAG are hosting public workshops in each Bay Area county.  The Santa Clara County workshop will be as follows:

    Wednesday, January 18, 2012
    5:15 to 8:00 PM
    Santa Clara County Government Center
70 W. Hedding Street, San Jose, CA

You must register to attend.  There is a limit of 100 people per workshop.  Registration will close for each workshop as it fills.  Walk-ins at the meeting will be accommodated as space allows.
