There is finally a farmers' market in Almaden Valley, started in March 2013 in the Via Valiente Plaza. This Champ Farmers Market is a Santa Clara County Certified Farmers' Market, and it is nice to have it opening in this shopping center which had a PW Supermarket until several years ago. Driving south on Almaden Expressway, turn left onto Via Valiente, and the center is immediately on your left. The farmers market is open on Wednesdays from 10 AM to 3 PM and on Sundays from 9 AM to 3 PM.
There are 35 vendors there, offering fruits and vegetables, honey, eggs, condiments, falafel, Mexican food, kettle corn, bakery products, flowers, jewelry, homemade crafts, and more. There is a seating area in the food court, sno-cones for children, free coffee for adults, and music for customers' listening pleasure.
Champ Farmers Markets, started by Joseph Aliotti, have been open for some time in Monterey and Salinas. Now one has arrived to bring life back to the Via Valiente Plaza which has been very quiet since PW left. The farmers market will be open year-round.
